13760 Sherman Way

I was checking out the first apartment we live in when we moved to Van Nuys CA. The building is still at 13760 Sherman Way. I forget the apartment number but we in the top front apartment. Some pictures below:

Dad and me in our driveway by his 1959 Plymouth
Mom And me. Our apartment is the top one at the end of the stairs.
Just me in car.
Me on the stairs. And me below eating in my Dad's chair.
In the early 60's I had a parakeet who I named "Kookie" after the character on the TV show 77 Sunset Strip. Kookie use to sit in the venetian blinds and wait for me to come home from school. Sadly one day Kookie flew into a silver container and broke his neck. We buried him in a cigar box in the dirt in front of the apartment. For all I know he still could be under there.

The apartment building was built in 1958. We moved there because it was close to my Dad's work at Flying Tiger Line at Burbank airport. I checked Zillow for this post and a one bedroom, one bath apartment now goes for $1,783! We live a two bedroom apartment which we moved into in April of 1960.

Visit From an Old Friend

On July 25th my great friend of 48 years Larry Thornhill drive up from Bloomington Indiana where he was visiting his daughter. We sat on the porch and had a wonderful visit. Like two old coots wee talked about old times, music and old girlfriends. We also covered some new things. Larry also brought me an Epiphone Les Paul 100 guitar and a small amp. Now I can drive the neighbors crazy. I did not have an amp.
For some reason it came out in B&W. It is actually a sunburst finish.
